TrailCon 2026 Non Profits

TrailCon 2025 marked the launch of Ultrarunning’s Buckle Fever: Origins of the Western States Endurance Run—a book that chronicles the moment in 1974 when Gordy Ainsleigh dared to run 100 miles alongside the Tevis Cup horses. His audacious feat ignited a movement—and redefined the limits of human endurance. It became more than a race. It became a rebellion against doubt.
At its heart were co-founders, Mo Livermore and Shannon Weil (MoShan), two women who helped shape the race’s formative years, which lead the way for the worldwide sport of ultra trail running.

Donner Party Mountain Runners is a grassroots 501(c)(3) non-profit running club based in Truckee, California, with members from all around the region, the U.S., and the world.

The Truckee-Tahoe region has long been home to many avid trail runners, and a destination for many others to explore and enjoy our world-class trails and scenery. We founded this club in 2014 to share our passion for trail running in these beautiful mountains. Our name honors the early emigrants to California, especially those in the ill-fated Donner Party, who faced the mountains under incredibly difficult circumstances.

As a high school art teacher for 16 years, I always enjoyed teaching students how to accurately see and draw in perspective. I started doing home illustrations as a hobby, for friends and family, and eventually a realtor friend mentioned that they would make for an outstanding gift – and I’ve since created hundreds of unique and personal home portraits for people across the country.

Friends of Nevada Wilderness has been successful in protecting over 3 million acres of Nevada Wilderness. Getting Wilderness designated is the first step toward long-term protection of these special areas but it’s not enough. Our wild lands need help to heal from past uses and abuses.

True Messages was established as a nonprofit platform to continue the projects and share the inspirational Messages of our friend Micah True’s words, life and works to create opportunities in support of the indigenous Raramuri (Tarahumara) peoples of the Sierra Tarahumara. Our projects and efforts retain the goals of Norawas de Raramuri, the nonprofit founded by Micah, by supporting the running heritage that remains so important to the Raramuri culture and self identity. We also place great emphasis on the youth of the community, sponsoring cultural education programs and joining in to help encourage an active and healthy lifestyle. Lastly we try to remain prepared and helpful with resources that address special needs as they arise within the Raramuri community.
